IN THE GALLERIES:
Open Door Series-Summer ’08 Juried Exhibition
June 12 - August 7, 2008
Juried art in all media and subject matter by area artists.
On August 21st The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake (TAACCL) will open an exhibit that uses sculpture, painting, photography, surf board art and , yes watercolor to explore this element as a theme as well as a medium for expression.
Patrons will enjoy traditional depictions of seascapes as they listen to sounds generated by several fountains in the Center’s lovely atrium but they will also enjoy work that uses water in different ways – self described “liquid sculptor” Martin Waugh, uses high-speed photography to capture the smooth and effortless curves of liquid eliciting a childlike sense of fun and whimsy. Colin Zelt, a photographer recently exhibited at the Galveston Art Center is known for his epic series of surreal photographs, many of these depict the decaying power of water.
The opening reception of “Water” is free and open to the public and will take place on August 21st 6:30pm – 8:30pm this is a catered event with live music and all are welcome. Book Signing by:
Dion McInnis
In addition to our Opening Reception Dion McInnis will be signing his book, "Listen to Life: Wisdom in Life's Stories," to be followed by a public presentation at TAACCL this fall. His book reminds us and teaches us that all the wisdom we need can be found in our experiences and the people we encounter in life.
The exhibit will be on display between August 21st and September 25th. The Center’s Hours of Operation are Tuesday – Friday 10am – 6pm and Saturday 10am – 2pm.
The Krist Gallery will highlight the work of the Galveston Bay Foundation.
