Clear Creek Nature Park The park is located on the South Shore of Clear Creek off Highway 270. The parks hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday- Sunday.

Clear Creek Nature Park, once known as the Davis tract, is one of the last remaining large underdeveloped properties with quality wetlands. The 148 acre park provides a home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The site is an excellent habitat for migrant birds, such as Sand hill cranes, great blue herons, ibises, American egrets, great white herons, owls and various song birds, which use the area to nest and feed. Occasionally the endangered whooping cranes have been known to visit. Ducks, pelicans, shore birds and wading birds all enjoy the large isolated pond along Clear Creek. The site’s wetlands serve as a nursery for many species of fish. The wetlands to the east help to provide homes to mammals such as deer, bobcat, coyote, and raccoons.

The first phase of the park includes a 1.3 mile concrete and fly ash birding and multi purpose observation trail with bird blinds, restrooms, picnic tables, BBQ grills and a pavilion. Phase 2 will provide a nature educational center, bird rehabilitation center, along with more trails.

The will provide a wonderful opportunity for public education, one of the major objectives for the nature park. Through interpretive signage, literature, field trips, the park will provide a way to teach adults and children alike the value of the rich and diverse habitats found in the Texas Coastal zones.

The Nature Park was made possible through funding from Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Regional Parks Program, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Coastal Wetland Conservation Program. Additional funding was received from a Galveston Bay Estuary Program/ TCEQ Grant for the Coastal Prairie and Wetlands Enhancement in the Galveston County Bay Watershed Program, Galveston County and the City of League City’s Park Dedication Fund.
